Why should we all plant trees?

Trees are important pillars of the world for both humans and the environment. They benefit us by cleaning the water and air and creating better social conditions. They benefit the environment by providing a home for various life forms, cooling our climate and improving our soil.

As part of our 2023 sustainability concept, we have teamed up with Tree-Nation and their projects in Africa and Latin America. For every order in our web shop, we now plant trees on behalf of our customers to offset the CO₂ emissions of the product and delivery.

Below we have listed the main benefits of tree planting:

Water treatment: Trees clean the water and slow down the rain by filtering it with their roots. This process prevents erosion and reduces the risk of flooding and flooding.

Wasserversorgung: About 1/3 of the largest cities in the world depend on protected forest areas for a large part of their drinking water.

Sauerstoffproduktion: Trees and forests are often referred to as the “lungs of the planet” for one very simple reason: they produce oxygen. It is estimated that 1 hectare of trees can provide the oxygen needs of 12 people for a year.

Cooling: Trees cool the surrounding air by providing shade and through a process called transpiration cooling. The trees emit water droplets from their leaves, which cool the surrounding area as they evaporate.

Biodiversity: Forests are home to about 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. This ranges from small invertebrates to large mammals. Trees also host a large number of insect populations, with some trees such as birches and willows supporting more than 300 species of insects.

Carbon sequestration: Natural forests sequester CO₂ and act as carbon sinks. Every year, forests and trees absorb the equivalent of 2 billion tons of CO₂, which is about 1/3 of all CO₂ released from burning fossil fuels.

Carbon storage: Deforestation amplifies climate change by releasing CO2 stores. About 18% of global emissions come from deforestation (5-10 GtCO2e), which is more than the entire transport sector in the world.

Protection of the soil: Trees make the soil less susceptible to erosion. The tree canopy also provides protection for the ground below.

And these are just some of the benefits. Will you also join us and help us to enlarge our forest?
